Participation in the Columbia-Greene Community College Queen of the Court Volleyball Tournament is voluntary and individuals use facilities at their own risk. Participation in any physical activity involves inherent risk and even when safety precautions are utilized, injuries and accidents can occur. The Athletic Department would like to encourage each individual to consult their physician and obtain adequate personal health/accident insurance prior to participation in our programs.

 

Thank you for participating in Columbia-Greene Community College’s Queen of the Court Tournament hosted by C-GCC Women’s Volleyball!

  1.       ELIGIBILITY

All participants must be a current female school student (8  th – 12 th grade).  Participants are not required to be on her school’s volleyball team.  Team members can be from any high school.

  2.       SPORTSMANSHIP

Good sportsmanship is required of all participants. Players and spectators are to conduct themselves properly at all times. Columbia-Greene Community College Athletics reserves the right to suspend or disqualify groups or individuals for unsportsmanlike conduct at any time. Unsportsmanlike conduct before, during, and/or after a game (event) will not be tolerated.

  3.       EQUIPMENT / PLAYING AREA

Volleyballs will be provided.  There will be two (2) courts open for play.

  4.       REGISTRATION

Session 1 registration starts from 9:45 AM through 10:15 AM.  Session 2 registration starts from 12:00 PM through 12:30 PM.  Teams will consist of four (4) participants.  There is a registration fee of $20.00 per team (Individuals without a complete team will be charged $5.00 per player).

  5.       FORMAT

The tournament will run as follows:

 Session 1

9:45 – 10:15 AM              Registration/Warm-up

10:15 AM              Briefing of Tournament Rules

10:15 – 10:55 AM            Play

10:55 – 11:15 AM            Break

11:15 – 11:55 AM Play

Session 2

12:00 – 12:30 PM         Registration/Warm-up

12:30 PM                    Briefing of Tournament Rules

12:30 – 1:10 PM              Play

1:10 – 1:30 PM                Break   

1:30 – 2:10 PM                Play

 
 

Points are earned through staying on the receiving side of the court (Side B).  After each tournament session has ended, points will be tallied.  1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd place teams will be announced.

 

  6.       RULES

     a. New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Volleyball rules apply.

     b. Initial order to compete on the court will be determined by the order at registration.  Once that initial order is completed, lines are on a “first come, first serve” basis.  A player must have a volleyball in hand in order to hold a place in line.

     c. Each team is responsible for shagging their own ball.

     d. Only teams that receive a ball on the designated receiving court (Side B) can earn a point.

     e. Serves can only come from the designated serving court (Side A).

     f. Any member of a team can serve.  Players can serve multiple times in multiple rotations.

     g. Referees will consist of current C-GCC women’s volleyball players and/or coaching staff.  Rulings by these officials are final.

 
If you do not have a complete team, the Tournament Director will create a team of four(4) individuals.
Individuals or teams may participate in one or both sessions.
Permission is granted to use photographs of participants in any release or other promotional materials. *
