Women’s Basketball Defends Home Court

The Twins women's basketball team had a weekend full of games recently.  They looked to defend their home court as they have done all season with an 8 – 0 undefeated record in their home gym. The Twins took on SUNY Adirondack in their Saturday game.  The Twins took the lead from the beginning and kept it the rest of the way.  The Timberwolves saw a surge in the fourth quarter, but it would be too late.  The Twins win their seventh game in a row.  That is the longest streak of the season for the Twins.  Sophomore Tanisha Edge once again led the team in scoring with 27 points, nine rebounds, nine steals, and eight assists.  Freshman Daniella Weinschreider had another great game scoring 15 points and grabbing six rebounds.  Freshman Casiris Ruiz is making her mark with 15 points scored and three steals.  Freshman Britney Brazela also contributed eight points in the Twins victory.  They would go home and get ready for Sundays game against Tompkins-Cortland Community College.

Fresh off the victory the night before, the Twins came out to take on the Tompkins-Cortland Community College Panthers at home.  The Twins came out and took the lead in the first quarter 24 – 10.  A Tighter second quarter had the Twins going into the locker room up 44 – 30.  The Panthers kept it tight throughout the second half but were unable to mount a comeback.  The Twins ultimately defeated the Panther, 86 – 75.  This keeps the Twins undefeated at home with a 10 – 0 record on their court.  Freshman Casiris Ruiz once again had a high scoring game with her season high 20 points.  Sophomore Tanisha Edge led the team in scoring with 26 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.  Sophomore All'aha Albright scored 13 points and neared a double-double with nine reounds.  Freshman Anyla Harper contributed eight points and five rebounds.  The Twins will travel to Fulton-Montgomery Community College to take on the Raiders Wednesday January 24th.  The women's game will begin at 5 pm with the men's game starting at 7 pm.
