Twins Upset #7 Ranked Lakers in OT

The Twins traveled to Finger Lakes Community College to take on the #7 ranked Lakers.  This is the last game of the year for the Twins.  It was a tightly contested battle from the very beginning.  .  It was a tightly contested battle from the very beginning.  The scoring went back and forth ending with a tie at 15 after one quarter.  The Twins came back with a high scoring second quarter and took a large lead at half 42 – 30.  The Twins continued their high scoring and kept the lead 59 – 47 after three quarters.  The Lakers showed they wanted it in the fourth quarter though and outscored the Twins by 12 points.  The game was forced into overtime tied 73 – 73.  Standout Twins player Tanisha Edge fouled out after two minutes into over-time.  She had played every minute of the game up to that moment.  Despite missing edge, the Twins took control in over-time to defeat the #7 ranked Lakers, 91 – 82.  Sophomore Tanisha Edge played 42 minutes for the Twins and led them in scoring with 26 points.  Sophomore All'aha Albright achieved a double-double with 20 points scored and 10 rebounds.  Sophomore Stacey Cherestal came off the bench to score 15 points with a 75% shooting night.  Freshman Selena Jones also came off the bench and scored 14 points with eight rebounds.  The excitement continues for this Twins team as they finish the first half of the season with a 10 – 2 record.  Their only loses come from two top ten ranked teams in Division III.  The season will continue when the Twins come back from break and take on nearby rivals Hudson Valley Community College at home on Tuesday January 9th.  The women's game will kick things off at 5 pm and the men's game follows at 7 pm.
