Twins are Goldberg Classic Champions for Second Straight Year

The Goldberg Classic kicked off with the Twins first home games of the season.  The women took on the Word of Life Bible Institute Huskies in hopes of getting their first win of the season.  They came out hot looking for the win and they got it.  The Twins would claim victory over the Huskies and put the Twins in the championship game against Nassau Community College on Saturday.  Nassau defeated Springfield Tech in overtime to get into the championship game.

After the consolation games in the morning, the Twins women's team looked to claim the championship going up against Nassau Community College.  The Twins outscored Nassau 20 – 5 in the first quarter to take the lead.  They would continue to lead till the final buzzer, defeating Nassau Community College 70 – 45.  Freshman Anyla Harper got her first double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Sophomore Tanisha Edge scored 14 points with four assists and three steals.  Shayna Ostrowsky scored 11 points and had seven rebounds.  The Twins reclaim the Goldberg Classic championship title.  Ostrowsky received all-tournament team honors with a total 27 points, 10 steals, and eight assists over the weekend.  Tanisha Edge received the tournament MVP award.  Edge scored 58 points over the weekend along with 15 steals, 14 assists, and 14 rebounds.  

The Twins look to continue their success at home Tuesday November 7th against Sullivan Community College. The women play at 5pm and the men play at 7pm.
