Women Golden at Goldberg Tourney; Edge Named MVP

The women's basketball team took on SUNY Orange in the Goldberg Classic championship game Saturday.  The Twins came out hot, scoring 23 in the first quarter, they would lead the SUNY Orange 41 – 30 at the half.  Orange scored 27 points in the fourth quarter to make a comeback, but the Twins would hold on to win the championship 76 – 73.  Freshman Tanisha Edge scored a season high 33 points, five rebounds, six assists, and five steals to lead the team.  Sophomore Brooke Hapeman scored 14 points and had six rebounds.  Freshman Stacey Cherestal had 12 points and three rebounds.  Freshman Shayna Ostrowsky had 11 points, eight rebounds, and three assists.  All'aha Albright contributed six points, six rebounds, seven assists, and five steals.  To go along with winning the championship, Twins leading scorer Tanisha Edge was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player while fellow C-GCC teammate Stacey Cherestal was named to the all-tournament team.  The women's basketball season continues on the road Tuesday November 15th at 6pm against SUNY Broome Community College.
