Softball Catching Fire with Fourth Straight Win
Softball Catching Fire with Fourth Straight Win

Twins softball traveled to Mohawk Valley Community College to face the Hawks Tuesday.  The Twins looked to keep the streak going after winning their last two games.  The Twins led off the scoring with three runs in the top of the second inning.  The bats would continue to swing as the Twins score nine over seven innings.  D'Arcy Bittner pitched seven shutout innings and struck out four to get the win 9 – 0.  Bittner also found success at the plate going 2 – 4 with a double and two RBI's.  Brooke Hapeman went 3 – 4 with an RBI.  Michaella Lamont went 2 – 4 with one RBI.  Anna Davies went 2 – 3 with one RBI.

They would continue their offensive success in the second game.  In the first inning the Twins went up 2 – 0.  An eight run third inning would thrust the Twins into a 10 – 0 lead over the Hawks.  D'Arcy Bittner was once again the pitcher for the Twins.  She began to run into some trouble in the bottom of the third inning.  The Hawks began to comeback but ultimately fell short as the Twins win 10 – 7.  This is the fourth victory in a row for the Twins.  Bittner received the win after pitching seven innings and allowing seven runs on six hits with two strike outs.  Tori Popp went 3 – 4 at the plate with two doubles and two RBI's.  Lauren Bowes went 3 – 4 with a double and an RBI.  Brooke Hapeman went 1 – 3 with a double and three RBI's.

Head coach Peter Dedrick had some comments about the Twins recent performance: "It was great to get two road wins. It was the tale of two games. We played a very clean game in game one. Darcy pitched great and our defense was flawless. I felt our approaches at the plate were the best we've had all season. Game two our defense let Mohawk hang around but we stuck with it and got a win. We just have to continue to take it one game at a time."

The Twins look to continue their win streak when they take on Clinton Community College at home Sunday April 23rd at 2 pm and 4 pm.
