Twins softball traveled to Finger Lakes Community College on Friday to take on the Lakers in two games.  Sophomore D'Arcy Bittner was the starting pitcher for the Twins.  Through four innings the score remained tied at zero.  In the top of the fifth inning, the Twins would score two runs to go up 2 – 0.  The Lakers would strike right back and tie it up 2 – 2 at the end of the fifth inning.  Another string of hits for the Twins in the top of the sixth scored two more runs to put them up 4 – 2.  Bittner finished off the Lakers to get the win.  She allowed two runs on eight hits and struck out five batters through seven innings.  Bittner also had a game at the plate going 2 – 4 with an RBI and a stolen base.  Brooke Hapeman went 2 – 4 with two doubles and an RBI.  Anna Davies went 1 – 3 with a double and an RBI.

 

Freshman Alexandria Jerro-Greco started the second game for the Twins.  They would take the early lead as they scored a run in the top of the first to go up 1 -0.  The Lakers came right back scoring two runs in the bottom of the second.  The Twins would continue to strive on offense as they went up 7 – 5 after four innings of play.  D'Arcy Bittner would come in relief with two outs in the bottom of the fifth and shut down the Lakers.  Jerro-Greco got her first win of the season with 4 2/3 innings pitched and allowed six runs on seven hits and struck out two. Bittner pitched 2 1/3 innings allowing no runs and no hits while striking out two.  Tori Popp went 2 – 3 at the plate with two RBI's.  Catherine Gomm went 2 – 4 with a double and two RBI's.  Michaella Lamont went 1 – 3 with two RBI's.

 

The Twins will travel to Mohawk Valley Community College to take on the Hawks Tuesday April 18th at 3 pm and 5 pm.
