Twins Softball
Softball Falls on Opening Day

Softball kicked off their season at Onondaga Community College this past Saturday.  The Twins started off by taking an early lead.  Following two walks in the first inning, sophomore Brooke Hapeman launched a double into the left field gap to score two runs.  After advancing on a sacrifice bunt, Catie Gomm hit a deep double to score one run and put the Twins up 3 – 0 at the end of the first.  This lead would be lost in the third inning after some sloppy defense as Onondaga goes up 7 – 3.  The Twins would ultimately fall to Onondaga 11 – 3.  Freshman Gomm would finish the game going 2 – 2 with one double, one single, and one RBI.  Hapeman finished 1 – 3 with a double and two RBI's.

The Twins continued to struggle in the second game.  Onondaga jumped right out of the gates scoring six runs in the first inning.  They wouldn't look back scoring 15 more through the rest of the game.  The Twins were shut out, losing to Onondaga Community College 21 – 0.  Freshmen Anna Davies went 2 – 2 with two singles while Lauren Bowes also had a single.

Peter Dedrick comments on the start of their season: "Not the start we wanted but it was a great test for us and a terrific learning experience. We are battling some adversity with injuries and what not but this team will bounce back and learn from their mistakes. It's a long season and this is only two games. We will move on and be just fine."

Twins softball will play their first home game of the season Saturday April 8th at 1 pm.  They will play two games against Tompkins Cortland Community College.
