Softball Bats Heat Up to Take Two

The Twins Softball team collects a well deserved sweep yesterday against Mohawk Valley CC. Game one the Twins held onto the lead to get the win 7 to 5. Game two the bats exploded and the team collected the second win of the evening with a score of 14 to 9. 

Game 1

Twins Scored six runs in the first inning but Mohawk chipped away over the course of the game. The Twins held strong and pulled through with the win. Jaime Staunch take the W on the mound.

Hitting

Caitlin Rice 2-3 with a RBI

Brooke Hapeman 2-4 with two runs scored and a RBI

Jaime Staunch 2-4 with one run scored and a RBI

Shannon McNeff 1-3 with one run scored and two RBI's

Veronica Mayhew 1-3 with two RBI's

Pitching - Jaime Staunch – 7 innings with 9 hits, 5 earned runs, and 4 strikeouts

 

Game 2

The Twins fell behind 7 to 0 going into the 5th inning but they never gave up as their bats exploded for them to plate 11 runs and eventually win 14 to 9. Shannon McNeff takes the win for game two as the relief pitcher.

Hitting

Angela Grandinetti 3-4 with two RBI's

Veronica Mayhew 3-4 with two runs scored, one walk, and a RBI

D'arcy Bittner, Elizabeth Gould, Brooke Hapeman, Shannon McNeff, Jordynn Grossman also collected a fair share of RBI's for the Twins.

Pitching – Shannon McNeff as relief for Bittner – 3.2 innings with 7 hits, 2 earned runs, and two strikeouts.

 

Coach Comments

"Two very big wins for us. Our offense showed up and had some very timely hits. Our defense also played well. We just have to take one game at a time and hopefully we can make a run for the playoffs."

C-GCC plays next on Sunday April 24th away at Clinton CC with first pitch set at 2 PM.
