Twins Travel to National Meet for First Time

The Twins track & field team traveled to Mohawk Valley Community College to compete in the NJCAA Division III Track & Field Championships. This is the first time that Columbia-Greene has sent a team to the National Championships. Two Twins athletes competed. After a short delay due to thunderstorms, the Twins took to the Track.

First was Freshman Connor Hillicoss in the 400-meter race. HIllicoss reached his personal best in the event at the Region III Championships two weeks prior. He ran 55.45 to place eighth at that meet. He battled the windy weather at Nationals to cross the line in 57.55. He missed finals but placed 16th place overall at the National Championship meet.

Next up was Freshman Adam Beach in the 800-meter race. He qualified for this event first at the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational with a time of 2:04.38. He later bettered that time running a 2:03.97 at the Cortland Classic. Beach competed in heat three of three at Nationals. He battled the tough winds to finish with a time of 2:05.55. This placed him sixth in his heat and 15th overall. Beach finished just six spots out and two seconds away from making finals.

This meet means the end of the season for the Twins track & field team. Thanks to everyone that has supported the team throughout the season.
