Twins Drop to Herkimer Generals

 

Hudson, N.Y- Columbia -Greene Community College men's basketball team took on the #1 seed in the conference, the Herkimer Generals Saturday, February 16th.  The Twins struggled to find a consistent flow throughout the matchup and ended with a score of 60-101. The result moves the team to a 12-12 overall mark while the Herkimer Generals move up 23-1 in overall mark. The Twins move to 5-6 in conference play.

 

The matchup began with the Generals grabbing an early lead right from the start with the Twins fighting to keep a close score. The Twins held the Generals from reaching double digits for the first few minutes of the game starting with 2-6, but the Generals were resilient and pulled ahead. The Twins battled back with three pointers made by Kevin Diaz and Cameron Thomas. But the Generals kept the lead setting the tone for the first half ending 48-26.

 

The Twins started the second half from behind, fighting to stay in range of the Generals. The Twins showed life with two three pointers by Kevin Diaz and Kaijah Rodgers putting up three field goals. Ezequiel De La Cruz fought back shooting 100% at the free-throw line and sinking in two field goals. Unfortunately, the Generals kept the lead, and the final buzzer sounded with the Twins down 60-101.

 

Top scoring contributors for the Twins came from the starting lineup. Kevin Diaz knocked in 13 points while Jihadu Brunner- Brown finished with 11. Both Kaijah Rodgers and Cameron Thomas chipped in 9 points. Ezequiel De La Cruz dropped in 6 of his own with 6 rebounds, along with Bright Afful adding 6 points to the board with 9 rebounds.

 

The Twins play their last two home games against Fulton-Montgomery Community College Monday, February 18th at 5PM and then on Wednesday, February 20th against SUNY Adirondack at 5PM.
