Twins Men's Basketball Sophomores Recognized

This past Saturday, the C-GCC Men's Basketball team took the court for the last time this season against Fulton-Montgomery CC. The Twins have had a season with some exciting wins and some tough losses, and overall the team has put forth a great effort, led by the sophomores. The four sophomores that have made tremendous efforts the past two years to help the team are Joe Murray, Chance Ryan, Jaden Edwards, and Jon-Taylor Elmendorf.

Joe Murray joined the team late in the season and was an immediate force during his first game versus Orange County CC. He has scored in each of the second half contests, and compiled five double digit games. Joe averaged 8.4 rebounds per game and has a career high of 13 rebounds. He has been a tremendous rebounder and defender for the program.

Chance Ryan was part of last season's regional qualifying team. He has served as a utility player coming in the game off the bench. Last season Chance was the team's 3pt specialist, and once again maintained that rule this season. He finished his career with 52 games over two seasons, averaging 10.5 points per game and 91.7 percent from the free throw line. His career high game was this season with 27 points. Chance also earned this year's President James R. Campion Free Throw Shooting Award, which is awarded to a Men's Basketball Player who shoots a high FT percentage not only in games but also in practice. In addition to being a key player for the Twins, Chance has maintained a 3.8 GPA, making the President's List in every semester of his two years.

Jaden Edwards is another member of the 2014-2015 men's regional qualifying team. He is a two year starter for the program, playing in 54 games along the way. Last season he tamed the conference's best scorers with his stifling defense. This season he took a more active role with the offense, serving at the team's point guard. Jaden ends his Twins career averaging 14.6 points per game. His career high of 23 points came in both seasons.  Not only has Jaden dominated the court, he also has dominated in the classroom earning him the honor as a Columbia-Greene Dean's List recipient.

Jon-Taylor Elmendorf was also a member of last season's regional qualifying team. He has been the foundation of the team, serving as a role model, and team captain. JT was moved from the 6th man role last season to a start this season, totaling 45 games in his Twins Career. He has been the team's top rebounder throughout the season despite being undersized, and tallied a career high of 18 rebounds. JT will be best known for his 3 point shooting. He is 2nd in the region for 3pt shooting attempts, and has been extremely efficient, shooting 42 percent from behind the arc and has a season average of 13.8 points per game. His leadership both on and off the court has held the team together, and will carry over if he should choose to play at a four year institution.

Thank you, sophomores, for your dedication to Columbia-Greene Community College and Twins Athletics. We wish you luck with your future endeavors.
