The men's basketball team travelled to Hudson Valley CC for a Mountain Valley Conference matchup last night.

The first 15 minutes was a defensive battle, with both teams playing hard on the defensive side of the ball.  Hudson Valley held an 18-10 lead with just under 4 minutes left in the first half, but used a 12-4 run to go into halftime up 30-14.  "We just could not put the ball in the basket," said Head Coach Walter Rickard.  "HVCC plays a really tight zone, and we could not make shots to force them to extend the zone."

The Twins were led in the first half by Khalil Paul and Kevin Phillips, who contributed 4 points a piece.

The Twins got some scoring in the second half, but could not make the stops on defense necessary to give themselves a chance to get back in the game.  "I thought our defense in the first half was pretty good for the most part, and I thought if we could play the same way in the second half we could give ourselves a chance to win.  But we just couldn't put it all together tonight," Rickard said.

Malcolm Shivers finished the game with a team-high 14 points, followed by Phillips, who chipped in with 12.

The Twins return to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Adirondack CC for a 6:00pm tip-off.
