Edge Player of the Year; Two Make All-Conference Team
Edge Player of the Year; Two Make All-Conference Team

This year's Mountain Valley Conference basketball awards for this season have been released with three Columbia-Greene Twins players receiving honors. Tanisha Edge of the women's basketball team received player of the year for the conference.  Men's basketball players Tydrea Rodriguez and Chris Kidd both received 2nd Team All-Conference honors.

Tanisha Edge has been a standout player on the women's basketball team this season, therefore it is only fitting that she received the Player of the Year award for the Mountain Valley Conference.  Only a freshman, she has a scoring average 25 points per game which leads all other women's players in the NJCAA Region III.  She also leads the region in total points this season with 576.  Edge's top performance this year came when the Twins upset national champions Roxbury Community College.  She scored a season high 43 points in that game along with six rebounds and three assists.  She has been named NJCAA Region III Athlete of the Week four times this season.  Edge has been a shining star for this young program and has been rewarded with the honor of being the Mountain Valley Conference's Player of the Year.

Tydrea Rodriguez of the men's basketball team received second team all-conference honors for his performance this season. He has started every game he has played for the Twins this year.  Being a sophomore Tydrea was expected to be a leader on this team, and he has delivered on that expectation.  He stepped up and averaged 15.4 points per game, five rebounds per game, and five assists per game this season.  His best game came at Ulster County Community College where he scored 36 points to lead the Twins to victory.  Rodriguez was selected twice this season as the NJCAA Region III Athlete of the Week.  Performances like this, in addition to his two double-doubles, have earned Tydrea second team all-conference honors.

Christopher Kidd also received second team all-conference honors for his accomplishments this season.  Despite not joining the Twins till the second half of the season, he has become a standout player on the court.  Kidd achieved a double-double in 10 of the 12 games he has played for the Twins.  He leads the team in points per game with 19.2 and rebounds per game with 12.7.  His best performance came against Mohawk Valley Community College on February 8th when he scored 29 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.  Kidd has also been named NJCAA Region III Athlete of the Week twice this season.
