Track Wraps Up Season at Region III Championships

The Twins track & field teams took the trip to Little Falls, NY to participate in the Region III Championship meet.  This would be the Twins last meet of the season.

Freshman Nicholas Funk kicked things off for the Twins in the 1500-meter race.  Funk came into this race having run his best time of the season just two weeks prior at the Cortland Classic.  Last week he came up just three seconds shy of beating his best time.  He came into this one hoping to have an impressive performance at the Regional Championships.  Funk ran another personal best in this one.  He crossed the finish line in 5 minutes and 41 seconds.  This is two seconds faster than his previous best.  Funk finished 12th in the Region.

Freshman Riley Werner competed in the women's 1500-meter race.  She ran her best time of the season at the Cortland Classic.  However, she came into this one after a bit of a set-back the prior week when the team competed in the Capital District Classic.  She was looking to bounce back with a better performance in the Region III Championships.  She came just one second shy of her best this season running 5 minutes and 52 seconds in the 1500-meters.  She finished in third place in the 1500, gaining Columbia-Greene Community College six points.

This is the last meet of the season for the Twins.  We congratulate track runners Sabra Simon and Amira Furtado on a good season.  They will be missed next season as they are graduating with the close of this semester.
