Twins Hard Work Gains National Attention

The hard work on the hardwood is turning heads - not only locally, but on a national level.  NJCAA National Rankings for the week of 12/19/17 were published, and while Columbia-Greene women's basketball did not receive a top-10 ranking, they put themselves on the map, garnering coveted votes and national recognition in the poll.

Twins women's basketball are on a roll for the first half of the season, capturing a 10-2 overall record and 7-2 regional record.  The only losses came at the hands of Mohawk Valley Community College and Onondaga Community College, whose programs are currently ranked #3 and #8, respectively.

Over the past weekend, the team defeated #7 ranked Finger Lakes Community College.  With an overtime loss to the Twins, Finger Lakes dropped out of the national rankings, and Columbia-Greene received ranking votes.

Receiving national votes marks a phenomenal moment for the Twins, whose program was recently resurrected in 2016 after a ten-year hiatus.

The accolades keep coming, as standout sophomore Tanisha Edge received NJCAA Region III Female Athlete of the Week recognition on the same day of the release of new poll rankings.  This marks Edge's second time receiving the award this season, and sixth overall of her career.  Joining Edge are fellow student-athletes Shayna Ostrowksy, Amira Furtado, Stacey Cherestal, All'aha Albright, Selena Jones and Anyla HarperCasiris Ruiz, Tori Popp, Britney Brazela, Daniella Weinschrieder and Samantha Rodriguez.  Edge, Cherestal, Furtado, Harper and Ostrowsky are all nationally ranked in various statistical categories.
