Women Upset National Champions

Twins women's basketball showed the world they have what it takes to be a contender - the program defeated defending NJCAA Division 3 national champions Roxbury Community College on Thursday night in Boston.

Both teams kept it close during the first and second quarters of the game, only a few points dividing the teams, then Roxbury pulled ahead and took the lead in the third quarter.  The Twins put together a massive effort and executed a barrage of points for a whopping 27-11 fourth quarter, ending the game with a score of 77-70.

Freshman standout and Saugerties High School grad Tanisha Edge had the game of her college life with a career best 43 points, including eight thee-pointers.  Freshman Shayna Ostrowsky, of Catskill, contributed 16 points of her own. Amira Furtado and Brooke Hapeman were forces on the court, pulling down 14 and 15 rebounds, respectively.
