Softball Team Looks to Make it Four Straight

The Columbia-Greene Community College softball team will begin their journey back to the Region 3 tournament on January 21st.

Last year, The Lady Twins made it to the Regional Tournament for the third straight season, taking their 22-7 record to Rochester, NY to take on national power Monroe CC.  Unfortunately, they would lose by a score of 3-2 in extra innings.

Two players were named to the All -Mountain Valley Conference team, Nicole VanAlstyne and Courtney Hill.  VanAlstyne batted.478 with 9 doubles, 21 RBI's, and 38 runs scored.  Hill, who has since taken her skills to Division I SUNY Albany batted .418 with 38 hits, four doubles, four triples, one homer, 18 RBIs and 48 runs.

As well as being named to the All-Conference team, VanAlstyne was named Columbia-Greene Community College Female Athlete of the Year.

This year's team will look for leadership from their two sophomores Rachel Vale and Nichole Paolino, who are the only returning members of last year's squad.  Freshmen Danielle Lown (Red Hook), Brittany Willson (Ichabod Crane), Karlee Moore (Ichabod Crane), Kourtney Irwin (Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk),  and Patti Cameron (Germantown) are a few of the players that will look to contribute right away.
