Twins Take Two on the Road
Twins Take Two on the Road

Over the weekend, the Twins had two away games against Finger Lakes Community College and Cayuga Community College, both of which resulted in big wins.

The first game of the weekend was on Saturday against Finger Lakes Community College. This was a high-scoring affair, in the first ten minutes of the matchup, both teams were trading baskets, and the score was 21-20 in favor of the Twins. The second ten minutes of the first half saw Finger Lakes pull away at halftime, giving them a seven-point lead. In the second half, the Twins came out energized and ready to take command of the game. A huge piece to this 2nd half resurgence came from Lavon Fernandez (Hudson, NY), who put up 20 points in just the second half alone. Carmelo Ayala (Bridgeport, CT) also had 18 points in the second half. He shot 4-7 from three-point territory, helping space out the floor. With ten minutes left to go, the Twins started to pull away. At its most, the lead grew to 19 points! In the second half, the Twins scored a total of 60 points and ran away with the game. Lavon Fernandez ended the game with 29 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals! Carmelo finished with 20 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and two steals as well.

On Sunday, they traveled to Cayuga Community College. While the game wasn't as high-scoring, it was still a highly contested matchup. The score ended up 65-59 in favor of our twins. We shot the ball at a good rate from three and from inside the arc. Chrischen Chung (Poughkeepsie, NY) had a great game; he had 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists. He also shot 4-10 from behind the three-point line.

After the holidays, our basketball team is back on January 13th against Genesee Community College at 2 p.m.
