Twins Basketball drops to Herkimer in Overtime Thriller

Columbia Greene men's basketball drop matchup against Herkimer in an overtime thriller. The final score was 86-83 in favor of the Generals.

The Twins came to play last night against a dominant Herkimer team that has only lost one game so far this season. In the first half, the twins came out hot and lit the nets on fire. The Twins went on a run in the first half that would push their lead all the way up to twenty points. Lavon Fernandez (Hudson, NY) and Sean Haye (Catskill, NY) helped build the lead as they both poured in 10 points each. The score at half would have the Twins leading 40-31.

Into the second half, the generals kept fighting and would claw their way back into the contest. They would do this with full court pressure and hot shooting after the break. With around 10 minutes left on the clock, the Generals would even up the score. The Twins were determined to push the Generals to the brink throughout the last ten minutes. Both sides traded baskets, and each had huge defensive stops. At the end of regulation, the score was tied, and the game headed to overtime. Both teams stood toe to toe with each other until the final two seconds, when the Generals sealed the game after a made free throw attempt.

Our twins played hard and fought to the very end. Lavon Fernandez (Hudson, NY) would finish with 22 points. Sophomore Sean Haye (Catskill, NY) would end with 16 points.

The Twins play again today (2/8/24) away at Adirondack at 6 p.m.
