Men's Basketball Wins Back to Back Games

The Twins men's basketball team had another weekend packed with games. This weekend was spent defending their home court. They opened the season with a win and a loss in the Goldberg Classic Tournament here at Columbia-Greene Community College. The Twins had a week of practice before getting set to take on the Tompkins Cortland Panthers Saturday. The Panthers began their season with a win and a loss as well.

The game opened with the Panthers taking an early lead. The Twins would hang on despite some shooting trouble in the first half. The Panthers were up by five at halftime, 44-39. The Twins exploded with 54 points in the second half as they found their rhythm. They held the Panthers to just 40 second half points to complete the comeback. The Twins earn the victory, 93-84.

Sophomore Myles Ukoh had a huge game for the Twins scoring 36 points with eight blocks and eight rebounds. He shot 60% from behind the arc with six three-pointers. These were career highs for Ukoh in both points scored and blocks. Freshman Rande Harper had a big game as well scoring 26 points with three assists. He went five of nine from three-point range. Sophomore Kaijah Rodgers reached his career high in assists with 13 in this one with five steals and seven points.

The next day, the Twins would take on their first conference opponent of the season. The Schenectady County Royals were visiting for a men's basketball matchup. The Royals came into this one with an 0-2 record to kick off their season.

The Twins took the early lead and didn't give it up. They had a commanding lead at halftime, 40-29. The Twins took full control in the second half scoring 60 points in the half. They would take the win, 100-71. Freshman Rande Harper had another big game for the Twins with 26 points scored, four assists and three steals. Sophomore Cameron Thomas had a bounce back game with his third double-double of the season scoring 17 points and recording a career high 17 rebounds. Sophomore Myles Ukoh recorded his first double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds. He also recorded six blocks.

The Twins will look to continue the streak when they play another game at home. Come see them in action Tuesday November 12th. They will be battling the SUNY Broome Hornets at home with a 6 pm tip-off.
