Twins Basketball has Another Successful Weekend of Games

The Twins men's basketball team had a weekend packed with games as the season comes to an end. They kicked things off with a trip to Clinton Community College to take on the Cougars for the second time this season. The first time these teams met, the Twins squeezed out the win with a big second half scoring effort.

The Twins kicked things off with big scoring in the first half. They would score 46 first half points to take the lead into halftime, 46-42.  The leading scorer for the Twins in the first half was Sophomore Michael Alert with 12 points and six assists.

The Twins defense would not let the Cougars get any closer in the second half.  They held Clinton to 36 second half points.  The Twins offense kept up the scoring as well as they finished with over 100 points in this game. The Twins finish with a victory against the Clinton Community College Cougars, 101-78. 

The leading scorer for the Twins was Sophomore Michael Alert as he reached a double-double. Alert finished with 29 points, 10 assists, and four steals. Alert made seven three pointers on 78% shooting from behind the arc.  Sophomore Jihadu Brunner-Brown scored 18 points and had seven rebounds in the victory. Bright Afful and Cameron Thomas each contributed 11 points in the win.

The very next day, the Twins traveled to North Country Community College to take on the Saints.  This is the second time these two conference rivals are meeting this season. The first time they met, the Twins pulled out the win with a big score of, 111-95. 

This one started with a battle for the lead between the two teams. The Saints eventually got the upper hand, taking the lead into halftime, 44-41.  The Twins weren't trailing by much and looked to make a big push in the second half. The leading scorer for the Twins in the first half was Sophomore Jihadu Brunner-Brown with 16 first half points.

The Twins came out firing shots in the second half. They would finish the half shooting 70% from the field.  This helped them finish with 52 total second half points. They got rid of the deficit and went on to victory with this big second half push. The Twins defeated the North Country Saint 93-87. 

The leading scorer for the Twins was Sophomore Jihadu Brunner-Brown with 33 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Sophomore Bright Afful reached a double-double with a season high 18 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Cameron Thomas had quite the game with 14 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore Michael Alert contributed 12 points and eight assists in the victory.

The Twins will play their next game at home when they take on the Hudson Valley Community College Vikings.  This game will take place at home February 13th with a tip off time of 6pm.
