The Columbia-Greene CC men's basketball team hosted Hudson Valley CC in a Region 3 match-up tonight, winning 86-68.

In the first half, the Twins were led by Tydrea Rodriguez and Sawyer Spohler who each scored 12 points and 10 points respectively.  C-GCC ended the half on a 6-0 run to take a 37-31 advantage going into the break. "In the first half, I thought we were going a little too fast on offense.  We were not letting the offense work," said head coach Walter Rickard.  "We were taking shots a little too quick in our half court offense."

The second half was a different story.  Right from the inbounds to start the half, the Twins go off to a hot start.  The lead was pushed to 19 points within the first four minutes with great defense and converting turnovers into points.  But the Vikings would not go away.  They went on a 6-0 run in the next two minutes and eventually whittled the lead down to 10 points with just under 12 minutes to go.  But the momentum shifted once again less than two minutes later, and the Twins again found themselves leading by 19 points.  Jaden Edwards and Tydrea Rodriguez led the charge, along with some sharp shooting by Sawyer Spohler and Jon-Taylor Elmendorf.  With the offense staying hot, CG-CC was able to push their lead up to as many as 28 points  with three minutes remaining in the game.  " I was very happy with our defense to start the second half.  We got a big jolt from Jaden and Tydrea," said Rickard.  "I was very happy with our overall effort.  It was a great team win."

Tydrea Rodriguez finished the game with 28 points and eight rebounds.  Jaden Edwards netted a season-high 23 points.  Rounding out the top scorers was Sawyer Spohler, who finished with 18.

The Twins improve their record to 15-11 overall, 11-11 in Region 3 and 9-6 in the MVC.

On Saturday, C-GCC takes on nationally ranked  #2 Herkimer CCC at home.  Tip-off will be at 1:00pm
