After a tough 63-59 loss to Jefferson Community College over the weekend, the Twins of Columbia-Greene took to the court Thursday against a very talented SUNY Delhi and came away with a 65-63 win.

The Twins controlled the score board for most of the game, leading by as much as 8 points, and entered halftime with a 32-30 lead.  In the second half, the Twins led by 6 points with just under 3 minutes to go when Dehli went on a 9-0 run, hitting 3 three-pointers in as many possessions to take a 63-60 lead.

With under a minute to go, out of a timeout, Jordan Hoose (Philmont, NY) grabbed an offensive rebound and put it back for two points, giving CGCC a much needed momentum boost. After a Delhi timeout, freshman Peter Fortes (Middletown, NY) stole an inbounds pass and Tydrea Rodriquez (Middletown, NY) was fouled on the offensive possession.  Rodriguez made both free throws, putting the Twins up one.  Delhi called a second timeout after the made free throws, and the sequence of events repeated itself- Fortes was able to deflect the inbounds pass off a Delhi player and out of bounds.  Rodriquez was fouled on the next possession and sank 1 of 2 free throws to put the Twins up 2.  Delhi missed a shot at the buzzer, and CGCC came away with a well-earned 65-63 win.

Sophmore Sawyer Spohler (East Durham, NY) led the offensive charge with a game-high 16 points and 6 rebounds.  Hoose posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Rodriquez rounded out the evening with 12 points, including the 3 free throws that would secure the win.  "We received a great effort from Sawyer, Jordan and Tydrea.  Peter played well over the course of the game, and once again came up with big plays down the stretch.  It was a well-earned win, and a great way to go into the semester break," said head coach Walter Rickard.

The Twins go into the semester break 7-6 overall and 3-6 in Region 3.  They return to action on Saturday, January 10th at home against Clinton CC at 1pm.
