Twins Split Weekend
Twins Split Weekend

The Columbia-Greene Community College men's basketball team split their Region III matchups this weekend.  On Saturday, the Twins triumphed against Cayuga CC, 63-41, before falling 80-67 to Onondaga CC on Sunday.

On Saturday, the Twins came out hot, scoring the first six points of the game before Cayuga would score.  The first half was a tight contest, with the Twins taking a 28-25 lead into halftime.  The second half was a different story.  The Twins defense only allowed 16 points, taking the victory 63-41. Sophomore Jordan Hoose led all scorers with 20 points.  Freshman Tydrea Rodriguez finished with 16 points, five rebounds and four assists.

The win improved the record for the Twins to 4-4 overall and 2-4 Region III.

Against Onondaga CC the Twins struggled to score, shooting only 39% from the floor.  Onondaga mainted a lead through most of the first half, but CG-CC battled hard to stay within reach, going into halftime down 38-32.  In the second half, Onondaga came out on fire.  The visiting team hit four threes and got the ball out in transion, really putting pressure on the defense.  The Twins kept up the fight, but could not get shots to fall, shooting 2-13 from beyond the arc for the game.  "I thought Onondaga did a great job of running their offense efficiently and were physical inside," said head coach Walter Rickard.  "They didn't make a ton of threes, but they made them at very opportune times." Jordan Hoose led the Twins with 15 points and 8 rebounds, and Derywn Thompson contribued 11 points and 3 steals.

The Twins are now 4-5 overall and 2-5 Region III.

They return to action on Tuesday, December 2 at home against Ulster CC.
