Turnovers Plague Twins on the Road

The Columbia-Greene Community College men's basketball team travelled to Plattsburgh, New York to take on Clinton Community College for a Saturday afternoon contest.  After battling to a halftime deficit of 33-28, the Twins could not overcome a team 23 turnovers en route to a 67-49 defeat.

After being down by as many as 17 points in the first half, the Twin rallied and finished on a 16-4 run to get within in five points at the half.  "We started of very slow and could not get anything going early in the half.  Then our defense got us back in the game," Coach Rickard said.

Unfortunately, the Twins could not carry the momentum into the second half.  Turnovers would be the story of the second half.  "We would get great stops defensively, but then give the ball right back.  It was frustrating because we had such great efforts at times and could not convert offensively," said Rickard.  "We need to get more consistent with our play and great things are going to happen."  With five minutes left in the game, the Twins were down 54-42, but could get no closer.

Khalil Paul poured in 17 points for the Twins, and was followed by Jon Halligan, who shot 3-3 from behind the arc, accounting for 13 points.

The Twins fall to 7-7 on the season and to 5-5 in Region III.  Next up for the Twins is a home match up against #4 ranked Herkimer CC on Tuesday at 5pm.
