Baseball Season Ends with a Sweep

Columbia-Greene Community College Baseball team played their final doubleheader of the season at Schenectady County CC yesterday evening. The Twins picked up the two wins to finish off their season. Game one was 8-6 and game two was 7-3.

Noah Ernst was on fire at the plate for the Twins. Ernst got on base four times in the game, scored two runs, and had one RBI. In the second inning he homered and singled in the fourth and fifth innings.

C-GCC came out ready to go as they scored seven runs in the first inning to jump ahead of SCCC. The runs by the Twins in the first inning were scored on a two run double by Collin Lynk, a two run single from Justin Maldonado, an RBI single by Mercury mason, and another two run single by Alec Reeves.

SCCC stayed scoreless up until the bottom of the third inning as they drove in a run off a single by Joe Visconti. They continued to chip away at the score closing the deficit to 8-6 with a RBI single from Kris Scarano and two run single by Ishmael De Los Santos in the fourth inning. SCCC scored on a fielder's choice and a sacrifice fly by Nick Schaub in the sixth inning. The Twins were able to retire the side in the bottom of the seventh to grab the win.

Ernst pitched for 1 2/3 innings and allowed no earned runs, walked none, and struck out three. Alan Smith took the rubber for another 1 and 2/3 innings allowing just two earned runs. Joe Murry finished the game and recorded the win on the mound. Murray allowed four runs over four innings, struck out four, and kept SCCC to six hits.

Frederic LaLande takes the loss on the mound. He allowed eight runs in four innings, walked two, and struck out three.

Game two went into extra innings and Noah Ernst was able to drive in the winning run to give C-GCC the lead. Ernst racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Twins.

The game started with C-GCC taking an early lead, 3-0. Immanuel Folds started it with a single and a stolen base to get to second. Folds scored on a fielder's choice. Juan Trillo and Alec Reeves scored on a two run double by Dylan Snow.

SCCC put up three runs in the fourth inning to tie it up from hits by Sean Major, Jason Rose, and Jotam Nunez.

Mercury Mason singled to get on base in the eighth. Joe Murray walked. Mason and Murray advanced to third and second base off a single by Folds.  Ernst doubled right field that scored all three runners. The Twins took the lead 6-3. Collin Lynk drove in Ernst off another doubled to center field before the inning was over. SCCC returned to the plate to attempt a comeback win but was unable to do so as the side was retired.  

Ernst takes the win on the mound. He allowed three runs over seven innings, struck out four, walked two, and allowed eight hits.

Mike Bowes closed the game on the mound and put away the final three outs to record the save.

The Twins season comes to a close and is ready to look forward to the next season!
