Baseball Sophomore Day: Splits with Schenectady

C-GCC Baseball had their last home game of the season Tuesday afternoon and came away with the split against Schenectady County CC. Game one the Twins fell 7-1 and game two the Twins won 4-1. 

In the first game, the score stayed at zero up until the top of the third when SCCC was able to get a player across the plate. In the top of the fourth inning SCCC continued to score by adding on five runs off of a sacrifice fly and a single to right. 

The Twins were able to plate a run in the bottom of the fourth. The rally was started by Dylan Snow after he doubled to center field. Jesse DelVescovo hit a fly ball to left field allowing Dylan to advance to third base. After the Twins hit into a double play, Mercury Mason stepped into the box and was able to get a hit to drive in Snow before the inning ended. 

SCCC scored one more in the top of the sixth and the Twins were unable to answer back for the rest of the game. 

Justin Maldonado took the loss for C-G on the mound allowing seven runs in seven innings.

Nick Schaub grabbed the win for SCCC allowing one run over seven innings and giving up nine hits. 

Game two the Twins took early lead in the second inning. Snow started the inning with a single to left field bringing up DelVescovo who hit a single to center. Mason took a walk to first, loaded the bases for the next batter. Joe Murray stepped to the plate and was able to hit a double to left which scored the two on base and moved Mason to third. Immanuel Folds was able to hit a groundout to shortstop that allowed Murray to get home. The inning ended with a popup to second base. 

C-G scored one more run in the bottom of the fifth from a sac fly by Snow that plated Noah Ernst. SCCC pushed across their only run in the top of the sixth. 

Alec Reeves takes the win on the mound allowing one run in seven innings. Reeves gave up five hits and was able to strike out four.

John Tice takes the loss on the mound for SCCC after allowing three runs in four innings. Tice gave up six hits and waked three. 

The Twins last two games of the season will be played on Thursday, May 12th at Schenectady County CC with first pitch at 2 PM.
