Twins Baseball Swept by the Raiders

The C-GCC Twins Baseball team battled Fulton Montgomery Raiders last Thursday today in a conference doubleheader at home.  Unfortunately, the Raiders took both games by the scores of 8-4 and 5-3.  The second game made it into extra innings before the Twins fell short.

In game one, Fulton Montgomery jumped out with an early 6-0 lead at the top of the first inning from an error, two singles, and a two-run double.

The Twins battled back to a 6-2 deficit in the bottom of the third after Mercury Mason got on base with a single to center field and Alec Reeves knocked him in off a triple to deep center. Reeves crossed the plate after three consecutive walks.

In the top of the fifth inning, Dashon Boyles homered to left field but the Twins were quick to get three outs after giving up the one run. In the bottom of the fifth, Noah Ernst was able to get a double to left and advanced to third on Collin Lynk's fly out. Juan Trillo knocked a hard ground ball to third base allowing Ernst to get home safe and lower the deficit to 7-3.

Fulton Montgomery was able to push across one more run off a sacrifice fly from Aden Healy in the top of the sixth inning.

Twins started the bottom of the seventh inning with a deep fly out to center field. Collin Lynk singled to right field to jump start the Twins hope in coming back. Trillo was able to get down a bunt to move Lynk into scoring position. Lynk was able to get the last run for the Twins on a passed ball before Fulton got the last two outs to finish game one.

In game two, the Raider pushed across one run in the first inning due to an error. The Twins followed back with a run of their own in the bottom of the first to tie the game up, 1-1. Alec Reeves crossed the plate that inning off a ground out by Collin Lynk.

The score stayed even until the top of the third inning when the Raiders scored again off an error by the Twins.

Fulton Montgomery led 2-1 until the Bottom of the fifth inning when the Twins rallied to take the lead. Justin Maldonado started the inning off with a single to left field and advanced to second base when Immanuel Folds was hit by a pitch. Mercury Mason reached on fielder's choice to shortstop, moving Maldonado to third but Folds taking the out. After Ernst reached on a walk, bases were loaded for Lynk who doubled to center field scoring Maldonado and Mason. The inning ended with a fly out but the Twins now had the lead 3-2.

The Twins lead wasn't for long when the Raiders squeezed across one run on a passed ball to tie it up at 3-3. After the seventh inning remaining scoreless for both teams, Fulton put up two runs in the top of the eighth inning. C-GCC tried to fight back with Lynk getting on base with a walk but the Raiders shutdown the next two batters to take the win, 5-3.
