Baseball Splits with Jefferson

On a beautiful day for baseball, the Columbia-Greene CC baseball team split their double header against Jefferson CC. The Twins fell in game one, 2-0, but rebounded in game two, winning 3-2 in extra innings.

Game one was a pitchers' dual.  The Twins' Jack Stelter went the distince on the mound, pitching seven innings, while giving up two runs on six hits. Unfortunately for the Twins, both runs came in the top half of the seventh.  Offensively, C-GCC could only muster two hits in the game, one each from Cameron Overbaugh and Jesse Delvescovo.

In game two, Jefferson CC drew first blood in the top of the second against Twins pitcher Hunter Scully.  The Cannoneers scored two runs to take a quick 2-0 lead.  The Twins came right back in the bottom of the second and put one run on the board, closing the gap to 2-1.  No team would score until the bottom of the sixth when Alec Reeves crossed the plate to tie the game at two.  The game went into extra innings before Jesse Delvescovo scored on a pass ball to give C-GCC their first home win of the season, 3-2.

Hunter Scully pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up two runs on five hits.  Brian Stanczuk entered the game in relief, pitching 5 2/3 scoreless innings for the win.

The Twins improve their record to 2-9 and return to action on Tuesday, April 14th as they host Clinton CC at 2pm.
