The Columbia-Greene Community College baseball team took on Schenectady CC over the weekend, winning two games and losing two games.
On Saturday the Twins hosted SCC, winning game one 6-0 before falling in game two 4-2. Mike Jacobsen took the mound in game one and held the SCC hitters at bay, only allowing three hits over 7 innings. He struck out two batters along the way. Jon Halligan and Peter Russo each went 2-3 at the dish, with Halligan contributing a double and two RBI. Tanner Cornacchini and Kevin Carpenito both went 1-3 with a double.
In Game two, errors were the story. Three errors led to SCC scoring two runs. The Twins' Scott Fox gave a valiant effort on the mound pitching seven innings, only giving up two earned runs while striking out seven batters. Jacobson went 3-3 at the plate, and Andriel Santana was 2-3 with a double and an RBI.
On Sunday, the Twins travelled to SCC for the second double header of the weekend. A slow start to the day resulted in a 10-0 loss in game one, but the Twins battled back to win game two 6-1. Halligan pitched game one and took the loss only going 1 2/3 innings. Kris Bucci pitched 2 2/3 innings in relief. Carpenito, Gorman, and Halligan each went 1-2 at the plate.
Kevin Gorman pitched a gem in game two for the win. Gorman went seven innings, allowing only one earned run. Jacobsen stayed hot at the plate, going 3-4 with four RBI and a double. Gorman helped his own cause going 2-4, as did Kevin Hunt.
On Tuesday the Twins travel to Herkimer CCC for a double header starting at 2:00pm. The Twins' record is now 9-9 overall and 8-6 in the Mountain Valley Conference.
