Track Opens Outdoor Season

The Twins track and field team traveled to St Josephs College on Long Island to compete in their spring opener meet. The Twins had to battle through the tough winds at this meet.

The men's team had three runners compete in this one. Freshman Adam Beach had a good showing, placing in the top three in both the 1500 meters and the 800 meters. He battled with the lead pack in the last lap of the 1500 meters. He finished in third place just two seconds off of the leader with a time of 4:40. Up next for Beach was the 800 meters. He fought for the lead the whole way and finished just one second behind the victor. Beach finished with a time of 2:14 in the 800 meters.

Sophomore Nicholas Funk also competed in the both the 1500 meters and the 800 meters. He hit a personal record in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:35. He finished in 18th place in that event. Nick next competed in the 800 meters. He fought tough winds to finish with a time of 2:50 which was good enough for 11th place at this meet.

The lone sprinter for the Twins was freshman Connor Hillicoss. He competed in the 100 meters and the 200 meters race. Hillicoss finished in the middle of the pack in the 100 meters. He ran a time of 12.11 seconds to put in in 8th place overall at this meet. Hillicoss had a similar showing in the 200 meters finishing in 17th place. He scored a time of 25.38 in the tough winds.

On the women's side, we had just one competitor. Freshman Paige Novack took on the field in the 800 meters race. She battled the high winds to finish with a time of 4:30 in the event.

We look forward to seeing these athletes continue to compete and get better. Their next meet will be on March 30th. They will travel to Mount Saint Mary College in Newburg, NY to compete in their 2019 invitational.
