First Outdoor Meet for Track & Field

The men's and women's track & field team traveled to New Jersey to compete in the Ninth Annual Ramapo College Invitational.  This was the first outdoor meet of the season for the Twins.

Freshman Riley Werner competed in the 1500-meter race representing the Twins. This is the first time she has competed in the 1500-meters in her collegiate career.  Werner previously ran the mile and 800-meters in her first two meets of the season.  She started off fast and finished 12th in her section.  Werner crossed the finish line with a time of 6:17 in the 1500-meters.

Sophomore Amira Furtado ran her first collegiate race at Ramapo this past weekend.  This is her first track race having not competed in the Twins first two meets.  Furtado was assigned to the first heat of the 100-meters.  She finished the quick race in a time of 17.51 seconds.

Sophomore Sabra Simon looked to run the 200-meter race once again.  She was assigned to the heat eight of the 200-meters.  Simon finished in third place of her heat with a time of 33.64 seconds.  This is less than .2 seconds away from the 33.48 seconds that she ran last weekend.

Finishing it off for the team was Freshman Nicholas Funk, who competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.  The exciting race includes four steeple barriers around the track with a water pit after one of the steeples.  Funk struggled a bit in his first time competing in the event.  He finished with a time of 14:04 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

The Twins track & field teams will travel to another meet this upcoming Saturday.  This time they will travel to Fitchburg State University to compete in the Jim Sheehan Memorial Track & Field Invitational.  This meet takes place Saturday April 7th with events beginning at 10 am.
