Twins Track & Field
Track & Field Begins Season at St. Josephs

The Twins track & field team participated in their first meet of the season when they traveled to Long Island for the St. Josephs Winter Invitational.

Returning sophomore Sabra Simon competed in the 200-meter dash representing the Twins women's track team.  This is the first time Simon has run the 200-meter race after running mostly the 100-meter dash last season.  In heat 14 she finished with a time of 35.32 seconds to begin her season.  Also competing for the women's track team was Freshman Riley Werner.  Werner competed in the mile race for the first time in her collegiate career.  Werner competed in the second heat of the mile.  She finished with a time of 6:41 to begin her Twins career.  This time was good enough for 12th out of 22 runners in her heat.

Representing the Twins men's track & field team was Freshman Nicholas Funk.  For Funk's first collegiate track meet he competed in the 3,000-meter race.  This is approximately a 2-mile race.  He competed in the second heat of the 3,000.  Funk finished the race in 17th place in his heat with a time of 11:36.

The Twins look to improve their times as the season goes on.  The track & field teams next meet will be at The Armory in New York City for The Armory's College Last Chance Meet.  This meet will take place Friday February 23rd with a starting time of 3 pm.
