The 2017-18 All-Region teams and Player of the Year were announced this weekend. As was the All-Tournament team from this past weekend's championship tournament. The Twins had a good run in the tournament and so it makes sense to see three Twins honored with All-Region Awards.
Sophomore standout Tanisha Edge received the most coveted honor in Region III. Edge was name the NJCAA Region III Player of the Year as well as being named to the First Team All-Region. This comes after a spectacular season, leading the Twins to the championship game. Edge finished with a 48.6% shooting percentage and averaged 22.7 points per game. She also nearly doubled her assists from last season averaging 6.7 assists per game. She proved she could do it all as she was in the top ten in many categories in Region III. Edge was also named to the All-Tournament Team after the Region III tournament this past weekend. Edge was the biggest scorer for the Twins with 14 points in the semi-final game and an incredible 43 points in the championship game. She also reached a double-double in the championship game with 10 steals as well. Edge finishes her Twins career having earned countless awards ranging from athlete of the week to player of the year.
Daniella Weinschreider was named to the Third Team All-Region in her freshman year as a Twin. She has made a mark as a Twin and it is only her first season at Columbia-Greene. After struggling in the first half of the season, Weinschreider emerged as a star player for the Twins. She finished the season with a 48.3% shooting percentage which ranks her sixth in the region at that category. She is also second, behind teammate Tanisha Edge, in the region in three-point percentage with 40.7%. Weinschreider averaged 11.3 points per game as well. She has proven to be one of the top shooters in the Region and looks to continue this success next season.
Sophomore All'aha Albright was also named to the Third Team All-Region after her impressive season with the Twins. She was once again an important player for this Twins basketball team this season. She averaged 9.8 points per game and shot 41.1% from the field. She reached a double-double in five games this past season. Albright finished the season leading the Twins in rebounds per game with 7.9. This ranks her eleventh in the region at that category. This was Albright's last season with the Twins. Throughout her two seasons as a Twin, Albright has accumulated many athlete of the week awards and now a Regional recognition.
