Ruiz Lifts Twins to Semi-Finals

The Twins women's basketball program started back up just two years ago.  Now they are preparing for the semi-final game in the Region III tournament. As the #3 seed, the Twins took on #7 seed Jefferson Community College in the Quarterfinals.

The Twins are looking to make a playoff run despite earning a loss in their last game of the regular season.  They faced the Jefferson Community College Cannoneers in the first half of the regular season and won.  The Twins got off to a slow start this time, going without a basket for the first few minutes of the game.  Then a pair of three pointers from freshman Casiris Ruiz got the Twins going.  They took the lead in the first quarter, 19 – 14.  The Twins kept shooting into the second quarter and took half, 37 – 26.  They kept it going in the second half to win, 70 – 54.  Freshman Casiris Ruiz led the team to victory with 28 points and five of the Twins eight three-pointers.  Sophomore All'aha Albright once again reached a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.  Sophomore Captain Tanisha Edge scored 19 points and just missed the double-double with nine assists.

The Twins move on to the semi-finals of the Region III tournament.  They will be taking on the North Country Community College Saints.  The Twins played the Saints twice during the regular season and came away with one win and one loss. The game will take place at Finger Lakes Community College at 3 pm on Saturday March 3rd
