Twins Split Doubleheader with SUNY Adirondack

 

Game 1
The Basics

Score: Twins 9, SUNY Adirondack 1

The Lead: Twins rallied for a 9-1 win in six innings to open the doubleheader. 

How it Happened 

The Twins came out strong firing away at the plate with a 2B RBI from Holly Kleinmeier scoring in Jenna Poulsen taking the early lead, 1-0. Justine Albin delivered a two out RBI single to add another run on the board for the Twins. Sydney Spohler hit a two run RBI single, advancing the score 4-0, Twins in the first inning. The Twins kept SUNY Adirondack scoreless until the fourth inning when the Timberwolves answered back scoring in a run. This was no match for the Twins offense as they battled back to put another run on the board to keep the lead, 6-1.

 

The sixth inning the Twins picked up momentum and wasted no time driving in runs starting with a home run by Baylee Cox, a 2B RBI by Kleinmeier to score in Jenna Poulsen, and an RBI by Kaylee Hoffman to bring Kleinmeier home. The Twins took the win in game one, 9-1. Hoffman got the win for the Twins, going the distance allowing only one run on eight hits.  

 

Game 2
The Basics

Score: SUNY Adirondack 8, Twins 4

The Lead: SUNY Adirondack took an 8-4 win over the Twins in game two.

How it Happened

With SUNY Adirondack leading 5-0 in the first inning, Baylee Cox hit an RBI to score Hailey Beaumont putting up a run on the board for the Twins in the third inning. SUNY Adirondack held the Twins from scoring, driving in two more runs in the fifth inning advancing the lead, 7-1. The Twins battled back with a two run RBI by Jenna Poulsen scoring in a pair, Sydney Spohler and Hannah Mawyin, to make it 7-3. In the seventh inning, Hannah Mawyin hit a home run brining in another run for the Twins. However, the Timberwolves answered back with a run of their own to take the win, 8-4 Timberwolves. Claire Filak pitched to start the game, allowing three earned runs on four hits. Kaylee Hoffman pitched the remaining six innings, only giving up three earned runs on seven hits.

 

The Twins host Dutchess Community College for a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 30th at 3:00PM & 5:00PM
