The Twins softball team took the trip to Corning Community College to take on the Red Barons in double-header action.  The Twins looked to continue the success they have found this season. 

In the first of two games the Twins started out struggling.  The Red Barons went up 3 – 0 in the first inning.  They came back with four runs in the fourth to go up over the Twins 7 – 1 after two innings.  Baylee Cox hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning to keep the Twins in it.  However, another big inning for the Red Barons put them up 13 – 3.  Corning cruises to a victory in game one, 13 – 5 in five innings.  Freshman Rachel Nielsen was the starting pitcher for the Twins.  She allowed seven earned runs on nine hits and walked four in her three and two thirds innings pitched.  Freshman Baylee Cox went one for three at the plate with her third home run of the season and two runs batted in.  Freshman Jenna Rippel went one for one and drove in two runs on a double.  Sophomore Tori Popp went two for two at the plate with a double. 

The second game stared off on a good note for the Twins.  They went up 3 – 0 in the first inning.  Another three-run inning in the third put the Twins up 6 – 1 after three innings.  The Twins tacked on three more runs to put down the Red Barons, 9 – 1 in five innings.  Freshman Kaylee Hoffman pitched all five innings for the Twins.  She allowed just one run on three hits and struck out three on her way to getting the win.  Freshman Justine Albin had a great game going two for two at the plate including her first home run of the season that scored two runs.  Freshman Rachel Nielsen went three for four at the plate and drove in two runs on a double.  Lauren Bowes went one for three at the plate with a double that drove in two runs. 

The Twins will continue their season when they travel to Herkimer College to take on the Generals in a Mountain Valley Conference matchup.  This game will take place Wednesday April 8^th with the first game starting at 3 pm.
