Twins Defeat Falcons in Double-Header

The Twin's softball team traveled to Dutchess County Community College to take on the Falcons yesterday.  This is their first game since coming back from the tournament in Myrtle Beach. 

The Twins kicked things off in the first inning with three runs.  This put them up 3 – 0 over the Falcons early in the game.  A three-run homerun from Freshman Baylee Cox in the third inning gave the Twins a large 7 – 0 lead.  Three more runs in the fifth inning put them up 10 – 0.  The Twins got the victory over the Falcons in five innings, 10 - 0.   Freshman Rachel Nielsen was the starting pitcher for the Twins.  She went all five innings and allowed just two hits.  Nielsen also struck out 11 and walked just one.  Freshman Baylee Cox was walked twice and picked up three runs batted in off her second home run of the season.  Freshman Kaylee Hoffman hit a triple that scored two runs.

The Twins got off to a hot start in game two of the day against the Falcons.  They scored four runs in the first inning.  This gave the Twins the early lead.  Freshman Kaylee Hoffman was the starting pitcher for the Twins in game two.  In the fourth inning Freshman Rachel Nielsen hit a double to score two more runs.  Then a big triple from Freshman Jaclyn Gehring scored one more in the fifth inning.  The Twins score two more in the sixth to take the victory 9 – 0 in six innings.  Kaylee Hoffman pitched all six innings for the Twins.  She allowed no runs on three hits and struck out 12 batters.  Rachel Nielsen went two for three at the plate with a double and two runs batted in.  Freshman Jane Pilkington went one for three at the plate and drove in two runs.  Freshman Baylee Cox went four for four at the plate to bring her batting average to .483 so far this season. 

The Twins have will have a week off before taking on Bergen Community College on April 4th.  They will travel to Bergen Community College to play a double-header against the Bulldogs.  The first game will take place at 4 pm.
