Track Travels to Mount Saint Mary College Invitational

The Twins track and field team traveled south to Marlboro High School to compete in Mount Saint Mary College's 2019 Invitational. It was a beautiful day for a meet as the temperature was in the 60's and sunny all day. The Twins had four competitors at this meet.

Sophomore Riley Werner competed in both the 800 meters and the 1500 meters. She made great improvements from the last meet she competed in. In the 800 meters, Werner ran a time of 2:54. She finished in 14th place overall. Up next for Werner was the 1500 meter race. She was feeling fatigued from the 800 meter race prior but still put up an impressive time. She crossed the finish line in a time of 6:39.

Freshman Connor Hillicoss also saw improvements from the week before. He competed in the 100 meters and the 200 meters. First up was the 100-meter race. Hillicoss ran a time of 12.39 which is a big improvement from last meet. Up next was the 200-meter race. Hillicoss finished with a time of 24.84 and placed 30th in the event.

Freshman Adam Beach is coming off a good performance at the St Josephs Spring Opener. He would compete in just the 800 meters at this meet. The race got off to a fast start but Beach kept to his own pace. He made his move in the second lap. Beach finished in 9th place with a season best time of 2:05.

Sophomore Nicholas Funk competed in the 1500 meter race for the second week in a row. Funk went out at a good pace while the rest of the field started fast. He slowly crept up and passed a group of competitors. Funk finished just shy of his personal best with a time of 5:38. He finished in 35th place.

The Twins track and field team will compete in just two more meets before the Region III Championship meet. Their next meet will be the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational at Fitchburg State University. This meet will take place April 6th.
