Track & Field Runs Tough at Cortland Classic

The men's and women's track & field team traveled to SUNY Cortland to participate in the Cortland Classic.  It was a sunny day at the track as the nicer weather started to come out this weekend.

Freshman Nicholas Funk was the only competitor for the men's track & field team.  He competed in the fourth heat of the 1500 meters.  Funk broke six minutes in the event for the first time and ran a personal best time of 5 minutes 43 seconds.  This was good enough for 23rd place in his heat.

Freshman Riley Werner was the only runner from the women's track & field team.  Werner would compete in the third heat of the 1500 meters.  She achieved at time of 6 minutes 15 seconds in this event earlier in the season.  She crushed that time to record her collegiate best in the 1500 meters.  She ran 5 minutes and 51 seconds to come in 10th in her heat.

The Twins are nearing the end of their season as they run their last meet before the Region III Championships this Sunday.  They will travel to RPI in Troy, NY to compete in the Capital District Classic Sunday April 29th.  The meet is set to begin at 10 am.
