Two Twins Reach a Double-Double in Loss

The Twins battled against nearby rivals Hudson Valley Community College. The Hudson Valley Vikings came into this game with a five-game win streak on the line. The Vikings held an overall record of 19-5 heading into this contest. The Twins were coming off back to back wins over North Country and Clinton. Currently, the Twins are set up to snag the last playoff spot for Region III.

The rivalry was very much alive last night as fans packed into the stands.  It started out slow with both teams struggling to get their shots to drop. This went on for the first five minutes where the score was tied at just four.  However, things started to heat up with the Vikings taking the early advantage. The Twins were not out of it though as they took the lead back and held it going into halftime. The score at the half was, 34-31.  The leading scorer for the Twins in the first half was Michael Alert with nine points and six assists.

The Twins held the lead for the majority of the second half. They didn't run into trouble till the last five minutes of the game. The Twins were ahead 70-66 with five minutes left in the game when the Vikings gave a big push. The Vikings took the lead, 71-70 with just four minutes remaining to play.  The Twins stayed within reach but were not able to get the lead back. The Twins fall to the Vikings, 81-75. 

Leading scorer for the Twins was freshman Cameron Thomas with 26 points and two blocks. Sophomore Michael Alert was all over the stat sheet once again as he reached a double-double. Alert finished with 14 points and 10 assists. Sophomore Bright Afful also reached a double-double for the second game in a row. Afful scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the win. 

The Twins next game comes at home when they take on Herkimer College.  The will host Herkimer on Saturday February 16th.  Tip-off for this game will be at 1 pm.
