Twins Fall to Ranked Vikings Team

The Twins kicked off the new year with a match-up against their nearby rivals the Hudson Valley Community College Vikings. The Twins finished the first half of the season with a 7-6 record on the season. They had a 5-4 record within Region III. The Vikings came into this game ranked #8 in NJCAA Division III. They hold an 11-2 record heading into this game.

The Twins got off to a slow start as the Vikings took an early lead. That lead slowly built up into the double digits by halftime. The Twins fought back however and made it a game in the second half. With just over four minutes left in the game, the Twins came back to within five, 80-75. This would not last as the Vikings held onto the lead. The Twins fall to the #8 ranked Vikings, 95-80.

Leading scorer for the Twins was sophomore Jihadu Brunner-Brown with 23 points.  Brunner-Brown fell just short of the double-double with nine rebounds.  Freshman Cameron Thomas had his second highest scoring game of the year with 17 points and seven rebounds.  Sophomore Michael Alert contributed 14 points and had six rebounds.  Freshman Kevin Diaz finished with 12 points going 3 of 4 from behind the arc.

The Twins will be back in action when they take on Clinton Community College in their first home game of the new year. The Twins look to bounce back to a winning record in this one. The game will be at home January 14th. Tip off will be at 3 pm.
