Twins Fall to Albany on Last Second Basket

The Twins traveled to the Albany College of Pharmacy yesterday to take on the Panthers.  This is the second game of their four straight games on the road. The Twins dropped their last game to the SUNY Sullivan Generals by a wide margin. They looked to get it back against a Panthers team that is just 2-5 to begin the season. The Panthers last game resulted in a loss against ASA College in Manhattan, 76-70.

Both teams kept pace with each other in the first half. The largest margin being seven when the Panthers went up 19-12 in the early part of the first half. However, it would be the Twins that took the lead going into halftime, 43-40. Thanks in part to freshman Cameron Thomas's 11 first half points to lead the Twins.

The Panthers came back quickly in the second half, making it a tied game once again at 48-48. A lot more back in forth in the second with five total lead changes in the half. This made for an excited last minute of the game.  With just a minute to go, Twins sophomore Jihadu Brunner-Brown nailed a three to tie the game up at 81-81.  After a layup by the Panthers put them up by two, Brunner-Brown came right back with a jump shot to tie the game up once again, 83-83.  On the next offensive drive by the Panthers, they drilled a three-pointer with just 22 seconds remaining.  With the score at 86-83 the Twins Brunner-Brown took the final shot that came up just short. The Twins fall in a close game by a final score of 86-83.

Leading scorer for the Twins was Sophomore Jihadu Brunner-Brown with 22 points and three assists. Freshman Cameron Thomas reached a double-double in his highest scoring effort this season with 21 points and 10 rebounds.  Two more Twins reached double-digits in this one. Sophomore Bright Afful scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Sophomore Michael Alert contributed 11 points and grabbed six rebounds.
