Twins Basketball Season Kicks Off at Mohawk Valley

The Twins Basketball teams began their season with a game on the road at Mohawk Valley Community College.  The women played in the early game to tip off the season.  The Mohawk Valley Hawks got an early lead and didn't look back.  The Twins would fall in their season opener 83 – 47.  A low shooting percentage hurt the Twins in this one.  Team captain, Tanisha Edge, scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds.  Freshman, Selena Jones, scored eight points in her debut for the Twins. Anyla HarperAll'aha Albright, and Amira Furtado each contributed six points. The women will have their home opener this Friday November 3rd at 2 pm against Word of Life Bible Institute.  This game will be the first round of the Goldberg Classic that is taking place Friday and Saturday at Columbia-Greene Community College.

 

The men's team played shortly after the women's game.  The men would have a tough time shooting as well, shooting 33% from the field.  They would fall in the first game of the season by a score of 82 – 66 to the Mohawk Valley Hawks.  The scoring was spread throughout the lineup with four Twins scoring in the double digits.  Leading the scoring was freshman, Jahrice Ballard.  Ballard scored 15 points and had three steals in his college debut.  Freshman, Rayquan Bryant, scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds in his first game as a Twin.  Sophomores Jordan Wright and Matthew Smith each contributed 10 points.  The Twins will play their first home game Friday November 3rd at 4pm.  They will be taking on the Word of Life Bible Institute in the first round of the Goldberg Classic.
