The Twins baseball team played their last games of the season at Jefferson Community College last week.  This last double-header comes days before Columbia-Greene Community College's graduation.

Sophomore Hunter Goodacre got the start in game one of the day.  After getting a couple runners on base in the top of the first inning, the Twins struck first.  They scored the first run of the game after a throwing error on Jefferson's catcher.  The Twins took a 1 – 0 lead.  After pitching a scoreless first inning Jefferson struck back with a run of their own.  The game was now tied 1 – 1.  Jefferson scored another in the fourth inning to take the lead 2 – 1.  Then in the top of the fifth inning, Tyler Drahushuk came up to bat and ripped a home run on the first pitch he saw.  This tied the game up again, 2 – 2.  The bottom half of the fifth is when things started to break down for the Twins.  They gave up six runs to fall behind 8 – 2.  Jefferson continued their scoring and took game one from the Twins, 13 – 3 in six innings.  Freshman Tyler Drahushuk scored one of the Twins only runs of the game on a home run.  Freshman Kevin Schrowang went two for two at the plate with a home run to score a run.    Hunter Goodacre pitched four and two-thirds innings allowing three earned runs on six hits allowed. 

Sophomore Phillip Proper has been one of the Twins best pitchers this season.  He would get the start in game two against Jefferson.  Proper struggled early on, giving up four runs in the first two innings.  Another four runs allowed in the bottom of the third inning gave Jefferson an 8 – 0 early lead.  The Twins were down 9 – 0 going into the sixth when they had a huge inning of their own.  The Twins drove in six runs in the top of the sixth inning.  That's all they would have left however as the Twins fall to Jefferson, 9 – 6 in seven innings.  The Twins recorded eight hits in this one.  Sophomore Austin Haley-Berry went two for two at the plate and scored a run.  Freshman Kevin Schrowang recorded one hit in three at bats.  Schrowang also drove in a run for the Twins.  Sophomore Lucas Foster went two for four and scored one run.  Proper pitched four innings allowing six earned runs on eight hits and struck out five batters.  Freshman Paul Pissarri finished things off with one and two-thirds innings pitched allowing no runs and no hits.

The Twins end what was a struggling season for them.  They look to strike back next season as they are losing just four players to graduation.
