Baseball Honors Sophomores at Last Home Game

The Twins baseball team played their last home games of the season this past Saturday.  They took on Hudson Valley Community College for Sophomore Day.  Between games coaches, parents, and friends gathered to recognize the graduating sophomores.  Lucas Foster, Joseph Tedford, Austin Haley-Berry, Hunter Goodacre, and Phillip Proper will all be walking across the stage at graduation.

The sophomore Hunter Goodacre would be the starting pitcher for the Twins as they take on the Vikings.  He had one of his best outings and the Twins bats were there to help.  The Twins put up two runs in the first inning to take a 2 – 0 lead.  They went into the second inning and tacked on two more runs to take a 4 – 0 lead.  Goodacre ran into a bit of trouble in the third inning and allowed the Vikings to score two runs.  The Twins answered right back with two more runs to take the lead 6 – 2.  Twins pitching struggled in the fourth and fifth inning.  The Vikings came back to take the lead 7 – 6.  The Twins needed at least one run in the bottom of the seventh to hold onto this game.  They would get that run and send the game into extra innings tied at seven.  The pitching depth was a challenge for the Twins as they gave up 10 runs in the eighth inning.  They ultimately fell to the Vikings 17 – 7 in eight innings.  Sophomore Hunter Goodacre pitched four innings and allowed four runs on five hits.  Freshman Paul Pissarri pitched two innings for the Twins allowing just two hits and no runs.  Goodacre helped the Twins at the plate as he went three for four and scored one run.  Freshman Sean Berry went two for three at the plate and batted in a run.  Freshman Tyler Drahushuk went two for five at the plate and ripped a double.

The Twins looked to comeback and get game two after the close score in game one.  Sophomore Lucas Foster took the mound for the Twins in game two.  The offense wasn't all there as the Twins struggled to get hits in this game.  The Vikings took the lead, 2 – 0 after one inning.  They would keep the lead as the Twins fall in six innings to the Vikings by a final score of 15 – 0.  Sophomore Lucas Foster pitched two innings and allowed just three runs on four hits.  Freshman Tom McGahan pitched three innings allowing three runs on five hits.  Sophomore Austin Haley-Berry pitched one inning of relief and allowed one run on two hits.  Freshman Kevin Schrowang went one for three at the plate.  Freshman Sean Berry went one for three at the plate as well.

The Twins will finish off their season on Thursday May 10th.  They will be travelling to Jefferson Community College to take on the Cannoneers.    First pitch is at 2 pm.
