Twins baseball took on the Mohawk Valley Community College Hawks this past weekend.  They played a home double-header and an away double-header against the Hawks.

Saturday was the home series for the Twins baseball team.  Starting pitcher for the Twins was sophomore Hunter Goodacre.  This would be Goodacre's third start of the season.  He ran into some trouble in the first inning with the Hawks going up 2 – 0.  The Twins struck in the bottom half of the inning for one run to make it 2 – 1.  Another similar inning put the Twins down by just two as the Hawks go up 4 – 2 after five innings.  The Twins failed to comeback as the Hawks get the victory, 5 – 2 in game one of the day.  Sophomore Hunter Goodacre pitched five innings allowing just four runs on two hits and struck out three.  Sophomore Phillip Proper came in relief and pitched two innings allowing just one run on two hits.  Freshman Kevin Schrowang hit a double as the Twins record six hits in the loss. 

Freshman Sean Berry got the start in game two of the double-header.  He ran into a lot of trouble in the early frames, giving up two runs in each of the first three innings.  This put the Twins down 6 – 0 after three innings.  The Twins gave up another seven runs and ultimately lose this one 13 – 1 in six innings.  Freshman Sean Berry pitched five innings and allowed four earned runs on seven hits and struck out three.  Sophomore Phillip Proper went two for two at the plate. 

The Twins would travel to Mohawk Valley Community College on Sunday for another double-header against the Hawks.  Sophomore Lucas Foster got the start for game one of the day.  After giving up two runs in the first inning, the Twins gave up six more in the second to dig themselves a 8 – 0 hole after two innings.  They would hold them scoreless till the sixth inning.  After the Twins scored two runs of their own, the Hawks struck back with two more.  This ended the game in the sixth inning with the Twins falling, 10 – 2.  Sophomore Lucas Foster pitched all six innings for the Twins.  He allowed five earned runs on 11 hits and walked five batters.  Twins batters recorded just four hits in the loss. 

On to game two of the day between the Twins and the Hawks.  Freshman Tom McGahan got the start for the Twins.  A huge first inning from the Hawks put them up 8 – 0 after just one inning.  Another big inning in the second put the Hawks up 13 – 0.  The Twins scored their only run of the game in the fourth inning, but the Hawks cruise the rest of the way to win 14 – 1 in five innings.

The Twins will look to get their first victory when they take on Fulton-Montgomery Community College at home Thursday April 26^th.  The first game of the double-header will start at 2 pm.
