Twins Baseball Falls to Rival Vikings

The Twins played four games against the Hudson Valley Community College Vikings this weekend.  The action started on Saturday when the Twins hosted the Vikings for two games.  Sophomore Noah Ernst was the starting pitcher.  He would run into trouble throughout the game, allowing eight runs in just three innings of play.  The Twins got some offense in the fifth inning but would still fall to the Vikings 15 – 4.  Collin Lynk went 1 – 3 at the plate with a three RBI triple. 

The second game of the day was a hard fought one.  Freshman Phillip Proper was the starter.  After giving up one run in the first inning, the Twins bounced right back.  A leadoff double by Michael Bowes started the rally.  Collin Lynk followed with a single to score Bowes.  Singles by Joseph Dwy and Joseph Visconti scored two more as the Twins take the lead 3 – 1.  The Vikings scored two more runs to tie the game at 3 – 3 going into the sixth inning.  A couple walks and a passed ball gave the Vikings the run they needed to take the lead.  The Twins fall to the Vikings by a final score of 4 – 3.  Phillip Proper pitched six innings and gave up four runs on six hits.  Joseph Dwy pitched one scoreless inning in relief and got one strikeout. Collin Lynk went 1 – 2 at the plate with one RBI.  Michael Bowes went 1 – 4 with a double.  Joseph Visconti went 2 – 3 with one RBI.

 

On Sunday the Twins traveled to Hudson Valley Community College to take on the Vikings in another two games.  Freshman Joseph Visconti started the game for the Twins.  A string of hits gave the Vikings the lead in the first inning 2 – 0.  The Twins rallied to get the offense rolling in the third inning.  A single by Joseph Dwy scored two runners and tied the game up 3 – 3.  A home run from the Vikings scored three runs as they took the lead.  A lack of offense late in the game caused the Twins to fall by a final score of 9 – 3. 

Sophomore Mercury Mason started the second game of the day for the Twins. The Twins took the lead in the first inning 3 – 0.  Mason would run into trouble in the second inning though.  The Vikings scored 10 runs on a string of hits to take a commanding lead 10 – 3.  The Twins would tack on one more run thanks to a Noah Ernst home run but ultimately fell 15 – 4.  Noah Ernst went 1 – 3 with two RBI's and a home run.  Collin Lynk went 1 – 2 with a double and two RBI's. 

 

The Twins play again Tuesday May 2nd at Fulton-Montgomery Community College at 2 pm and 4 pm.  Their last home game will be Thursday May 4th against Fulton-Montgomery Community College.  We will be celebrating the graduating sophomores as they play for the last time on their home field. The graduating sophomores on the baseball team include Michael Bowes, Noah Ernst, Collin Lynk, Mercury Mason, and Juan Trillo
