Baseball Falls to SUNY Adirondack

Twins baseball traveled to SUNY Adirondack on Saturday to take on the Timberwolves in their first conference games of the season.  Freshman Phillip Proper was the starter for the Twins.  He pitched four innings allowing eight runs with only two of them being earned.  On offense the Twins showed up scoring eight runs on 10 hits.  This would not be enough though as the Twins fall 14 – 8 in the first game.  Joseph Dwy went 2 – 4 with four RBI's.  Michael Bowes went 3 – 5 with a double and scored three runs.

The Twins struggles continued in the second game.  They took an early lead in the top of the first inning as Noah Ernst hit his first home run with a runner on to score the game's first two runs.  The Timberwolves would strike back in the bottom of the first to score five runs and take the lead, 5 – 2.  The Timberwolves continued to dominate, scoring seven runs in the third inning.  This game ended after five innings as the Twins fall to Adirondack 14 – 2.  Ernst would end the game 1 – 2 with a home run and two RBI's.

Sunday the Twins played their first home games of the season.  They would take on SUNY Adirondack for the second day in a row.  This first game started with the Timberwolves taking a quick 5 – 1 lead through three innings.  The Twins got offense in the middle of the game to make it a one score game, 5 – 4.  The Timberwolves scored two in the top of the sixth to solidify their win 7 – 4.  Mercury Mason and Juan Trillo each went 2 – 4 at the plate with one run scored.  Noah Ernst pitched seven innings for the Twins giving up seven runs on eight hits while getting six strike outs.

The Twins would not go down without a fight as they took on SUNY Adirondack for the last time of the weekend.  Twins pitcher Michael Bowes struggled in the first inning, allowing three runs.  The Twins took the lead after a five run inning in the bottom of the fourth to give Bowes some comfort.  The lead went back and forth before the Timberwolves scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to break the tie.  The Twins would fall by two to SUNY Adirondack, 8 – 6.  Joseph Dwy went 2 – 4, scoring two runs and stealing two bases.  Collin Lynk and Lucas Foster each went 2 – 4 in the loss.  Bowes pitched all seven innings for the Twins allowing seven runs and striking out two.

The Twins play again at home Tuesday April 11th as they take on Mohawk Valley Community College in a doubleheader at 2pm and 4pm.
